Hinge side is named as you'd see it from inside your home — the same way architects' window schedules read. The diagram shows the outside view, so hinges appear mirrored (a hinge-left window shows them on the right), just like an exterior elevation on your plans. The wide end of the arrow marks the hinges; the point shows the side that opens.
6 · Shape & screens
Screens go on the outside of every section that opens, so the window still swings and tilts in freely. Fixed sections don't need one.
7 · Glass & Panes
Some areas (e.g. Seattle/WA) require stricter energy ratings. Tell us your minimum and we'll spec the glass to meet it.
